Here is an interesting article from Fortune magazine on a trend happening "across the pond" in England.
As you will read in this article there seems to be a trend in the marketplace for consumers to want to know where there food came from and if the environment was compromised in any way. http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/06/magazines/fortune/gunther_brit.fortune/index.htm
The article also mentions that supermarkets are in a race to promote themselves as "the greenest" retailer.
A few things I'd like you to comment on:
Do you feel that the extra cost of these products is worth it? Do the farmers need the extra money to make "green products"? Do you think that purchasing these products has a positive effect on the environment?
What do you think about Whole Foods in London letting customers mix their own muesli or grind their own nut butters? Could this be part of "the experience" that gets consumers excited about being environmentally-friendly?
